Jim Ney has extensive experience in advising and counseling large real estate clients in complex commercial transactions that include lending, borrowing, sales, and acquisitions in a wide variety of financing transactions. He has served as an expert witness in a number of real estate related disputes or trials. He has an extensive background in negotiation and eminent domain matters, having served as a special Assistant Attorney General for the State of Georgia Department of Transportation early in his career. All of his representation in this regard is now against the condemning authority and on behalf of the condemnee.
He has handled, negotiated, resolved, and represented hundreds of applicants, participants, and parties to zonings, land use, and land planning issues, cases or hearings. He focuses upon due diligence reviews, investigations and examinations of properties to assist potential acquirers, lenders and others of the details and status of properties, and improved land and on land planned for development. He has been exposed to thousands of lending transactions representing borrowers and lenders and has developed a specialty in “workouts” or reworking troubled or complex loans. He was admitted to the State Bar of Georgia in 1966.
